Education and Training

The Center for Practical Theology provides opportunities to theologically reflect on and practically engage with practices as they impact reconciliation and justice, and thus the flourishing of life in community. Special attention is given to how the most vulnerable (including the poor and homeless, the sexually exploited, the oppressed, and disabled) are honored.

This dynamic learning community begins its task with the concrete questions that arise out of disruptions encountered in daily life. Rigorous theological reflection on these questions draws attention to the theological themes and social patterns that run through these disruptions in order to understand more deeply the significance of the Christian faith at this locus. The aim is to help clarify the ways by which God guides His church toward neighbors, reconciliation and joining lives, thus practically transforming its manner of living.

The Center has two broad tasks:

-Rigorous theological reflection

-Applicable practical education

The Center seeks to accomplish these tasks through:

-Mission Team Workshops

-The Reconciliation and Justice Academy

-Various Publications
